Seven-eighths of the performance for less than half the price.
by York on Feb.22, 2009, under Uncategorized
By far one of the best written reviews of the new 370Z. And to think…from the New York Times!!! Loving it!
The 370Z may no longer be Nissan’s sports-car flagship, but in some ways it is more satisfying than its larger, more powerful sibling. Unlike the GT-R, it doesn’t sound like a demonic vacuum cleaner; nor does it weigh as much as a tugboat. It provides seven-eighths of the performance for less than half the price. More heroically, it throws the whole Nissan sports-car hierarchy into question.

How can you not want this?

by York on Jan.24, 2009, under Apple
Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The
troublemakers.
The
round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no
respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them,
quote them,
disbelieve them,
glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore
them.
Because
they change things.
They invent. They
imagine. They heal.
They explore. They
create. They inspire.
They push the human
race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas
and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones,
we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough
to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.

‘Merica – Paying my respects to Bernie Mac.

To my chagrin when I first listened to Bernie Mac on the Original Kings of Comedy tour, he cursed like crazy (I never knew him from Def Comedy Jam). He let it flow like water from from a faucet man! It rubbed me the wrong way. BUT, his routine was drop dead funny. Then came the Bernie Mac show and I saw a different side to him. To me he did not lose his edge, it just cut a different way. He was probably the first black entertainer who started a serious “conversation” with white America. I think that more than anything else made his show incredibly special. It brought uncomfortable elements of black culture to the forefront and Bernie Mac let it rip. It felt so real. Iike i heard him say in an interview with Terry Gross, the idea was not to have “punch-line comedy”.
My heart goes out to his family and his closest friends as they mourn his loss. But as I said to someone yesterday, he got to do in his lifetime something that most of this earth’s inhabitants can only dream of doing…. to do what one loves and make a great living from it.
Bernie Mac, I will miss you – RIP -
